Prof. Donald A. Bisson, Dean & Chairman of OCR
About the Dean:
He began his career in the field of reflexology in 1976 after becoming certified by the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC). He served a term as Director with the RAC and three terms as President. He was also a Teacher of Reflexology, Teacher Trainer, Teacher Coordinator and Chair of the Transitional Committee for the RAC. Donald was instrumental in reviving the Reflexology Association of Canada from a nearly nonexistent state in the 1980's to a large and vibrant association today. He was also instrumental in the birth of the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR) in 1991 in Toronto and served as Director for one term with the ICR.
Donald established the Ontario College of Reflexology (OCR) in 1996 to create higher standards in education and professionalism. The OCR has already made an impact on reflexology world-wide by offering college level courses on reflexology. The college has established a strong internet presence and students around the globe are now taking reflexology courses by correspondence.
He is currently the Dean and Chairman of the College and was granted status as Professor of Reflexology by the Board of Directors. Donald was involved in creating the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (RRCO) in 1997. This was a voluntary registration body for Reflexologists in cooperation with other reflexology schools and organizations. This has proven to be a valuable cause with the now ever expanding issues in the municipalities. Such issues involve the licensing of Reflexologists and the distinction between legitimate Reflexologists and erotic body rub parlours. Donald has served 2 terms as chairman and 2 terms as vice-chair of the RRCO.
Donald was a contributing author for the following medical textbooks:
Donald has also authored all Reflexology textbooks that are used in the college and is now writing a new book.
Donald received the Public Service Award from the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR) in September 2003. This award is given to persons who serve the public as well as to the Reflexology community.
He has been in private practice in Ontario since 1977. He also has a private consulting business and is a Qualified Mediator (Q.Med) and Qualified Arbitrator (Q.Arb) with the ADR Institute of Ontario. and the ADR Institute of Canada
